Started delivering a presentation and soon becoming anxious, stumbling upon your words, losing concentration, and eventually fail to make an effective and good presentation. 


What's the reason for an ineffective presentation? Do you lack good speaking skills? The content wasn't good?

Well the basic reason for ineffectiveness is lacking good presenting skills.

Doesn't it sound so simple? But the reality is that Presentation Skills not only involves speaking while looking at slides, but it involves a series of  elements to be followed.

Why many of you fail in making an effective speech? Not only you but most of us(including me) fail because we have misunderstood the actual meaning of presentation. 

The misconception about the presentation is that it's all about reading what's written on the slides. If the main purpose of presenting was to speak what's written on the slide then why there should be an audience? They can even watch and read what's there on the slide.

Lately, I've been doing a lot of presentations and could find the changes in my presenting skills from the day I delivered my first presentation. Though I am not a well-articulated presenter/speaker, but all through these years I was able to add a bit of confidence, focus, engagement, and better engaging content to my next presentation.

Why is it that some are good speakers and others not? Are they born with such ability? 

No, they are not born having such good ability or skills rather they work on it. All the fast heartbeats and nerve-racking feelings most of us experience before presenting and may feel until it is over.

Having good and effective presentation skill is achievable, you just need to put in some work

Let's get to know what is a presentation and the skills required to make it effective and engaging.

What is Presentation?

The presentation meaning can be defined as a formal way of demonstrating or communicating an audience to inform, inspire, or motivate them using both verbal and non-verbal forms of communication.

The presentation with PowerPoint, visuals, graphs, tables are more effective and your aim is to elaborate on those points and visuals and inform the audience what the presentation is all about.

The Ideal scenario usually involves 10-12 people in a conference room, but there are several circumstances where you find to give a presentation where the number of audiences can range from 1 to 1000. Circumstances include-
  • Talk in lectures and seminars
  • Presentation in an interview
  • Speeches on social occasions like birthday parties, weddings, etc.
  • Presenting to large groups
Depending on the type of scenario the style of presenting, it's content, tone of voice, and engagement of the audience changes. 

Why Presentation Skills are Important?

Most of us deliver presentations without knowing the impact and importance of these skills in our life and career. Having good presenting skills resembles your personality, how well you are aware to present yourself in various situations, and tackling your audience effectively and efficiently.

Good communication and presentation skills give a perfect start to your career, rather your professional career starts with an interview which requires both the skills. 

Understanding the importance of presenting skills and working on the skills that lead to a great presentation will give a significant boost to your professional career.   

Elements Involved in a Presentation

As discussed earlier presenting is not only about speaking but a series of elements are included to make an effective presentation. The elements include-

Content  
Delivering the right content to the right audience using the right medium. Here the right medium refers to the use of visuals and data instead of long paragraphs. No audience will be interested in reading long paragraphs, rather they prefer graphs, data, and visuals for better understanding.

A presentation having graphs, analysis, collected data, comparison charts, etc will lead to greater audience engagement and a better understanding of the content.

Presenter
 
 
When you deliver a presentation you are the sole controller of the room. No discussion or any sort of interaction takes place until you start. You shouldn't be the only one speaking rather initiate interaction and encourage others to take part.

Dress Code
 
 
Wearing a t-shirt while presenting in an interview will give a negative impression to the interviewer and eventually losing the job opportunity. Depending upon the nature of the presentation dress code depends.

For instance, A speech at a wedding party where there are hundreds of audiences/guests present you can either wear formal or traditional wedding dress code as per the occasion.

On the other hand, you shouldn't opt for informal attire while delivering to your superiors/subordinates in a working environment.

Message
What message are you trying to convey through your presentation? Are you trying to motivate? Demonstrate? Or inform? If your talk is about workout motivation, don't change the topic, and choose to speak on another, the audience is unlikely to realize what you are trying to present.

Not only words to convey your message but use gestures, eye contact, visuals, and graphs. In other words, use both verbal and non-verbal forms of communication for an effective presentation.

Audience
The main target of any lecture, speech, or talk is the audience since you are informing, delivering, or motivating your audience. Delivering for the sake of presenting is ineffective rather it's completely useless, for an effective presentation you need audience engagement for sharing your useful insight with them.

Try making your audience to get engaged with your content, ask them questions, and let them share their views on the topic. In this way, more questions and views will come from the audience. The greater engagement the greater presentation.

Skills To Improve Presentation

Be Confident 
Taking over the podium and facing your audience is the very first step of being confident, informing and interaction comes later. Facing your audience is the most fearful thing, and if you can gather enough confidence to face them then the entire presentation becomes effective and smooth.

A point to remember both overconfidence and under confidence leads to an ineffective presentation. An overconfident presenter will keep on interacting not letting the audience interact. On the other hand, the interaction level of an underconfident person is so less that the audience is left with nothing to interact with. A perfect balance between over and under confidence leads to a perfect presentation.


Use Gestures 
Imagine a person standing in attention position and addressing the audience, will you enjoy it? Obviously no, instead the audience will get irritated and leave the presentation.

Using your hands, gestures, and walking around the podium/stage will make people think that something useful is being presented. People would love to interact with you and give their opinions on the topic. The use of gestures or moving around may sound waste but it stimulates the audience to interact and make the session more interactive.


Content 
It is a basic way to engage your audience,  the more point to point information more engaging. What will you prefer?
  • Reading an entire slide to get particular information or,
  • Reading a specific point to get a particular information
It's obvious that most of you will prefer to read that specific point rather than an entire paragraph to get information. Studies prove that a Powerpoint containing point to point information gets more engagement rather than a whole bunch of slides filled with paragraphs.

It also acts as a script, even if you forget a topic you can refer to that point and continue to deliver. Keep it short and specific.


Turn your Fear into Focus 
One of my greatest fear was to stand and speak in front of people. Many of you face the same situation too, but what is the reason behind the fear? Is it what people will think? What will they say behind my back? 

The same thoughts were in my head before presenting. But take a minute and think, are they the ones who will decide how well you presented? and why does it matter to you about what they think?

Let me tell you one thing, instead of fear if you focus and deliver  regardless of what others will think, you can easily turn your fear into focus.                                         


Practice 
In this case, practice doesn't require any physical activity, all you have to do is talk to yourself. Looking yourself in the mirror and start presenting like you are presenting it to the audience, it shows you how you're gestures and hand movements are taking place and make changes accordingly.

Practice but don't Procrastinate whenever you get time, practice while walking while sitting, and try presenting better than yesterday. The more you practice more valuable insight you'll gain about the effectiveness of your presentation. Record and know where exactly your words get stumbled, find out the reason and work on it.

Smile 
Keep a smile on your face while presenting, it is the best way to hide your nervousness and fear. Smiling indicates confidence and passion to the audience.

The same formula for confidence goes for smile also, over smiling and under smiling gives a negative impression to the audience.


Don't Cover Every Topic
Although your slides are point to point and engaging, it's a fact that most of us include topics that are not directly related to the subject matter of discussion. Skip out topics that are not the subject matter of discussion.

Having too many slides is not a problem, but the ability to present useful and specific slides is really useful.


Use Visuals and Videos
People can relate more to the subject matter when they are presented with visuals, videos, graphs, etc. Facts and figures give a better understanding of the content along with verbal information.

For example - A software engineer verbally presenting on how to write code, but for the audience, it's just an overview of what coding is. A video or visual will help the audience in getting a greater insight into coding and how to write it. A practical session will be the best way to make your audience understand the entire content


Watch Other Presentations
Watching other people's presentations will get you to know the reason behind their effective and engaging presentation. Every speaker has their unique way of presenting, some are audience-focused while others may be content-focused.

My motive here is not to make you follow these speaker's way of presenting, but getting ideas of several speakers will let you create your unique idea of presentation.


Entertaining
Don't be serious while presenting or just keep on discussing about content the entire session. Take time to entertain your audience because it refreshes both the presenter and the audience.

Try being humorous and connect it with your subject matter, it not only makes the session entertaining but informative also. Adding a pinch of humor is necessary for your audience to get energized.


Make Your Surrounding Comfortable 
Before the presentation, adjust your surroundings according to your comfort level. The more comfortable your surrounding more calmer and less anxious you feel.
Try practicing once before presenting on the stage, it makes feel more confident and comfortable during the main session.


Try
Last and one of the most important aspect in life is to try, carrying the fear of what other people will think is the reason most of us don't even try. Making yourself a good presenter is not a big deal, the only thing is to take the initial step, try and move forward.

It's the 21st century and one of the most important aspects of life is to manage time and cope up with it because

You have 24 Hrs so does everyone, then why it is that some are successful and more productive with time than others?

What's the reason? 

Are they lucky or talented enough to be more productive? If not, then what's the reason behind their success?

The answer lies in Time Management and Being Productive. You've got 24 hrs and at the end of the day thinking where did all the time go without being productive? The simple reason is spending your day focusing on so many different activities.

So what is basically Time Management and Being Productive?

WHAT IS TIME MANAGEMENT AND BEING PRODUCTIVE?

Everyone has Time but no Time Management.
It's true that everyone has time but only a few know how to manage it.

It refers to the effective and efficient allocation of time to each specific activity that you perform. It helps you perform smart work rather than hard work. Proper utilization of time helps you to complete more tasks in less time.

Being productive refers to anything that adds quality to you, for instance, A is a content writer and can write 12 articles in a day but the quality of articles is not good. On the other hand, B is also a content writer and can only write 3 articles in a day but the quality of B's articles is much better than A's articles. 

In the above instance, we can see that latter is more productive than the former because of the quality and not quantity. 

Being productive is not related to quantity it's related to quality, it applies to every aspect of your life, from the workplace to a healthy lifestyle.

Focus on quality and not quantity. Eventually, you will be productive because it adds quality to you and your work.

ARE TIME AND BEING PRODUCTIVE RELATED?

Are you productive? 

Maybe, Don't know. 

So you have time but not sure whether you are productive or not. 

The question here is

Yes, it is directly related because effective time management leads to greater productivity.

You may not be productive the entire day, that's why scheduling your time is important because it helps in reducing stress and anxiety and have a greater feeling of control if you plan your day, week and month strategically.

Certain advantages if you combine time and productivity strategically -
  • You will be more effective and efficient
  • You will be quality focused and not quantity focused
  • More tasks in less time
  • Improved lifestyle
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Less procrastination
  • Better growth and career opportunities
Not only advantages it has certain disadvantages too if not combined strategically -
  • Ineffective and Inefficient 
  • Develop a habit of procrastination
  • Imbalanced lifestyle
  • Less task more time
  • Quality of productivity reduces
  • Less growth and poor career opportunities

Plan and Proceed  

The first step towards being productive with time is to plan your tasks, prioritize them, and proceed.

Planning is important for an effective and efficient outcome, otherwise, you'll end up focusing on everything without any  productivity. Plan and prioritize your tasks and then proceed.

Time Management 

As discussed earlier why time management is important because it is directly related to being productive. Allot specific hours for each of your tasks and try to wrap up within the allotted time frame. 

Time is one of the most powerful elements in your life, it can lead you to great achievements and can bring you down to nothing. So use it wisely as it is the wisest counselor of all.

Focus on Single Tasking 

Focusing on everything leads to nothing. It is a fact that if you focus on multiple tasks at a time it will lead you to nothing because your concentration is switching between the two. 

Moreover, the energy drains, increases stress and the brain gets tired. Focusing on single tasking is one of the best habits you can develop.Can you multitask? Most probably yes, but the result will be neither efficient nor effective. 

For instance. writing an article while listening to a song can be done, but here's the drawback. The quality of the article will be poor and it won't be completed within the given time frame because the mind is diverted between two tasks. 

Create a List of Things That Interests You 

No gain if you indulge yourself in activities that you are not interested in, instead prepare a list of things that you are interested in. If you have a passion for photography, painting, writing, or vlogging go for it.

Is it possible to monetize my passion? Yes, it is possible, there are several websites and people out there who are ready to pay for your talent.

You may think about how I am being productive with this, let me tell you something. If you are good at paintings it shows that you have passion and talent. Now here's the key, have you ever thought of turning your passion into profit? 

For instance, if you are a good photographer there are websites that pay you when someone buys your image. If you are good at writing there are people and companies that pay you to write articles for them. Your talent is of great worth, so start extracting the best productivity out of it instead of wasting it.

Consistency  

In order to complete a task or achieve success, consistency is one of the major elements. A perfect physique can only be achieved if you are consistent in the gym, alternate or uneven workout won't lead to a perfect physique

Therefore in order to be more productive with time and have consistent results for long term, Be Consistent

It's been rightly said by Anthony Robbins 
        "It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives.

Don't Be Afraid of Failure  

Most of you don't perform tasks or grab opportunities because of fear of failure, it is the main reason for failures. On the path towards success, failure is a part of it so instead of running from it have to confidence to face the failure, and, eventually you will overcome your fear as well as failure.

Grab Opportunities 

You are surrounded by opportunities, everyday is a new day with a whole new bunch of opportunities but the fact is that you either ignore it or don't grab it because it requires hard work, consistency, or fear of failure

In order to grab opportunities everyday stay flexible to change, learn whatever and whenever you get a chance, be proactive, and keep trying until you reach your goal.

Don't avoid Hard Work  

Hard work is something that everyone fears. The pain that you experience today, tomorrow's success will heal it.  Keep digging in when things become harder and master yourself not to quit. Keep going and the hard work you put in today will eventually lead to success tomorrow.

Drop Perfection 

Don't aim for perfection in the beginning rather start working to the best of your ability. Perfection won't be achieved overnight it requires hard work, consistency, and focus. When you grab an opportunity if you focus on perfection you'll land up messing everything up

Instead, focus on completing the task within the given time frame which will gradually make you perfect in your tasks.

Prioritize Tasks 

It's really important to prioritize your tasks because if not prioritized you will end up trying everything without being productive and miss important tasks.

Categorize your tasks as urgent and important and work accordingly, as a result, you will be more effective and efficient in completing your tasks.

Avoid Distractions 

Taking 2 hours to complete a 30 mins work and getting stressed out, the reason being distractions. Avoiding them can make you complete more tasks in less time without being anxious or stressed outIn order to avoid distractions follow these steps-
  • Set yourself in a comfortable and tidy environment
  • Get away from social media
  • Keep mobile away while working
  • Don't sit long hours and take sufficient breaks
  • Create positive vibes

Take Intervals 

As discussed above, in order to avoid distractions take intervals. It is necessary to regain energy and feel active while working, taking sufficient breaks will benefit you by focusing and  maintain consistency on tasks when you are stressed out.

Get Hold of Everyday Lessons 

Learning everyday is important as each new day comes with a new chapter to your story and teaching long term lessons. If you start working on a task but not learning from the mistakes you made in the previous task, you land up committing the same mistakes again.

Learn everyday as it gives you an insight into the mistakes you commit and learning from your mistakes is a great way to develop yourself.

Smart Work 

Strategic time management leads to smart work, so what is smart work? It means completing more tasks in less time. It is really important because when you are familiar with your tasks, instead of doing hard work and spending long hours you can use shortcuts to complete the same task in less time.

But never run away from hard work, it is the foundation towards your success. Switch to smart work when you get familiarized with your tasks.

Realize your Productive Hours 

Are you an early bird or a night owl? Find out your productive hours, not everyone is productive early morning some are fond of working late at night. Both night owl and morning bird are having their own pros and cons.

So identify your hours when you are more effective and efficient.

We kill time. We save time. We rob and get robbed of time, we lose time, and we have all the time in the world. But no one of us is powerful enough to stop the march of time or slow it down.

We need to indulge this quote in our life's, it's important because by managing time efficiently doesn't mean we can be productive overnight. Your development, productivity, success is not an overnight process, it takes time to accomplish, for that Patience is the key we need to have.
Life is too short to be wasted, it is lost minute by minute, so get yourself to work and achieve what you were meant to be.

Each one of you wants to communicate messages or even your thoughts and feelings to others, but have you ever struggled to get your message across to the other individual? Yes you might have faced, I faced and many others have faced the same situation.

Not getting words to communicate the message, taking a long time to process out thoughts into words, or there is no clarity of what message you want  to convey, these are the common errors that you come across. 

So where does the problem lies? 

You and I live in an era where technology is taking one step ahead every day and making our surroundings digitalized, with this the communication system has also taken a new phase of communicating. Digital messaging systems are capable of making the message available to the receiver in a couple of seconds.

Living in this era it is necessary to convey the message effectively not only face to face but through these digital mediums too. 

There are several ways of communicating your messages/thoughts to the other individual, but mainly it is categorized as verbal and non-verbal( discussed later).

What Is Communication?

It can be defined as expressing thoughts/feelings or a message, it not only revolves around conveying a message but also understanding the emotions and intentions behind the message. 

Focusing on both verbal and non-verbal forms is important, not only words but gestures, actions, and written forms also play a major role.

Making your message effective needs some essential skills, which will improve your relationship with the speaker as it gives the listener a feeling of being heard and understood.

A message conveyed can have either a positive or negative impact depending upon the way it is being conveyed. 

Therefore it is important to know the skills for effective communication to avoid misunderstandings and disputes in both personal and professional life.

Reasons For Ineffective Communication

Ineffectiveness in conveying messages can lead to frustrations, conflicts, and misunderstandings in your life both at the workplace and at home. It's essential to know the barriers that lead to such ineffectiveness.
  • Language Factor - Finding it difficult to get your message/thoughts into words and convey it to the sender, the major factor is your fluency with the language. If you are not familiar/fluent with the language, getting your message into words becomes a difficult task and leads to ineffective transfer of the message.
  • Negative Gestures - Gestures are a form of non-verbal communication, but negative gestures like doing something else while someone is speaking, not maintaining eye contact, or even tapping your feet will offend the other person. It gives an impression of another person being insulted and hence ineffective communication takes place.
  • Focus  - In this case, ineffectiveness takes place when you focus on multiple tasks. Speaking something and thinking something will eventually mix up the entire message  or writing a mail while speaking to a person will also lead to the same situation and no proper communication takes place. For effective conveying of messages avoid distractions and focus on a single task at a time.

Is Good Communication Skills Important?

Yes, it is important,

Having good communication skills is the greatest asset you can ever have and it is one of the major skill requirements by today's industries. 

No one is born having a good skill, it's neither genetically gifted nor developed overnight. Communicating effectively takes a  long way to be mastered, but not impossible if determined.

It plays a major role from our personal life to professional life and able to deliver the message effectively will build both healthy professional and personal relations.

What are the types of Communication?

It does not revolve around just speaking or let's say just verbal form, there are several ways in which you can communicate. 

It is mainly categorized into verbal and non-verbal. Let's get ahead knowing what is verbal and non-verbal communication

Verbal Communication 
In simple words it is a form of conveying messages that involve words, it is basically face to face interaction, but with the advancement of technology, it can take place through telephonic based, internet-based, etc.

Many of us make the mistake thinking that verbal communication only involves words or oral interaction, but verbal is further classified into an Oral and Written forms of conveying messages.

Written Communication
It is the ability to write clearly and effectively, the inability to write effectively or having poor written skills will be frustrating for the reader. 

Therefore good written skills are essential for effective interaction. Examples of written form of message include E-mails, letters, books, resume etc.

Non-Verbal Communication 
Interaction taking place through visual cues, no words are involved. It is noticed and interpreted more than words. 
Examples of the non-verbal forms of message include gestures, body language, facial expressions, actions, tone of voice etc.

Skills for Effective/Good Communication

Language 
Communicating in a language that you are fluent and familiar will lead to effective communication, you won't find words to convey the message if you communicate in an unfamiliar language and even if you convey the message it may be taken in a different sense by the listener or have a negative impression about the message as well as you.

To have effective interaction, always communicate in a familiar and fluent language

Confidence  
Both overconfidence and underconfidence harm the conversation, but the right amount of confidence leads to perfect conversation. 

Showing confidence will give a positive impact to the listener about you, will have trust in your abilities, and value the effectiveness of your message. Maintaining eye contact, using a firm but friendly tone, and having a smile while conversation will lead to effective communication.

On the other hand, overconfidence and underconfidence give the other person a feeling of being left out of the conversation. An overconfident person speaks too much whereas underconfident person hardly speaks which leads to ineffective communication.

Be Respectful
Being respectful in a conversation is important, whether you are a team leader or a subordinate. Let's take a scenario, considering that you are a leading a team and ask for ideas and opinions over a project from your team members. 

Listening to the ideas and opinions of a single member and ignoring others will result in a lack of respect and unsuccessful communication.

Everyone has their own ideas and opinions, listening diligently, appreciating them, and giving feedback to their ideas will have a positive impact.

Clarity 
Be clear about what you want to convey, what is the purpose of information, and what information you want to receive. Successful communication is not only about giving the message, but it's all about giving the right and desired information, receiving the right and desired information, and knowing the purpose of information.

The absence of clear and concise messages leads to unsuccessful communication, misunderstandings, and disputes.

Listener 
Giving opinions or feedback without even listening is unethical and ineffective. Successful communication is a two-way process involving both listening and speaking. 
Patiently observe and listen to what other person is speaking, clarify doubts, ask questions, alternatives, and solutions. Two way conversation always leads to effective interaction so focus on being a good listener.

Focus
Single-tasking is always better than multitasking because when you focus on one thing at a time the result tends to be effective, the same formula goes for fruitful communication.

The major drawback of multitasking is that the focus is diverted among different tasks and eventually ends up causing disputes, bad relations, and frustration 

Keep your focus on what other people are speaking instead of indulging in other activities for effective communication.

Gestures
Not only verbal but non-verbal form of conveying messages is equally important, focusing on your and other's gestures can give you an insight into whether the interaction is being effective or not.

Negative gestures like no eye contact, tapping feet while taking, crossed arms, looking at watch or clock indicates anxiousness or patience, poor posture, or staring at others are signs of ineffective interaction.

Tone/Pitch Of Voice 
The tone in which a person speaks can change the entire meaning of the message. A simple message can be taken in a negative sense if the tone is harsh or pitch is high, it sounds aggressive and the respondent may also respond in the same manner.

Keep the tone smooth and friendly and pitch should neither be high or low, rather keep it medium for effective and smooth communication.

CONCLUSION

Making your communication skills effective is not an overnight process and takes time to nurture it but it's not impossible. Focus on the skills daily, it not only develops and improves your conversation skill but it develops you also

Everyone faces difficulty in making their communication effective and successful at some point of time. It's not a formula that you can drink and start communicating effectively the next day. Being an Introvert feels like we are apart from society, the simple reason being not socializing and being lost in our own world. Not interacting with society, sometimes being categorized as mentally unstable or something else which makes us feel unhappy or depressed. In this, I will be discussing about Introverts, their Personality Traits, Myths, and Powers. 

As an introvert, it's not always easy to understand how amazing you are, and the world feels like a place that awards extroverts. One who speaks less is easy to be left out and I faced this situation several times.

You might have heard from your family and friends to mingle with the society, go and talk to other people, open your mouth and speak, if you won't interact you won't reach anywhere in your life, to be successful don't be shy, don't be a reticent person. These are the most common words/sentences that you mostly hear from your friends and families and are used to it.

So, Introverts are really apart from society? They don't socialize?  Don't interact? Do they face failures in life?

Let's know what is the actual definition, its personality traits, misconceptions, and strengths. 

WHAT IS AN INTROVERTED PERSON LIKE?

An Introverted person is shy, reserved, quiet, and calm personality and not depressed, mentally unstable, or unhappy. When they are categorized as someone who they are not, that's what makes them unhappy and depressed. They are completely opposite of Extroverts and Ambivert is the one who balances the characteristics of both the personalities.

Both of the personalities brains are cabled differently and it handles the release of dopamine(hormone) differently which affects the characteristics of both these personalities.

Get Discharged When Being Around a Lot of People 

It's not like you don't like to party or mingle with others or attend a gathering, but after a certain period, you start losing your energy and need to spend some time alone by yourself away from everyone to get back your energy. 

The scientific reason behind this is the release of two hormones Dopamine and Acetylcholine. Dopamine is like energy hit when we do things that excite or when we take risks, extroverts feel great in this situation whereas introverts are sensitive to dopamine and react opposite of what extroverts do. 

When the brain releases Acetylcholine, introverts feel great to get lost in their own world or engaging in self-talk while extroverts react the opposite way and hate it.

Engage in Self Talk

Instead of talking to another person or sharing your thoughts and feelings, you prefer to talk to yourself and find peace and gain energy. You feel relieved, relaxed, and fresh when you involve yourself in self talk and get away from the busy world to a silent place.

Best Ideas Come When Alone

Generating the best ideas when you think alone, instead of thinking and generating ideas within a group. You get more innovative and creative and generate plenty of new ideas when being alone, improves focus and no pressure or any sort of tension, being in a group you feel stressed and overloaded and not able to focus.

Doesn't Involve Yourself in Small Talks 

You are not the kind of person who can start talking anywhere on any random topic, you rather prefer to not involve yourself in such small talks. If you are involved in a talk you listen patiently and make your words matter.

Don't Crave for Attention 

Instead of doing stuff to get other's attention, you rather focus on doing stuff for getting it done and not to show it off. Attention will matter to you when you complete the task/stuff and not to show off before.

Good Listener 

Anyone would have hardly told you that you are a good listener, but the reality is that you are a pretty good listener. Even though others may think that you are lost somewhere and not listening, but your ears are active and listen to the entire conversation. 

Great Observer 

You love to observe and watch your surroundings and people around you. This is one of the best qualities of introverts, they are natural observers.

MYTHS ABOUT INTROVERTS 

Harsh 

Most people hate the characteristics that introverts possess, the quite, inhibited and reserved nature is not liked by many people and that's one of the main reasons you are said to be harsh. But the reality is that you aren't harsh.

Want to be Left Alone 

That's partially correct, you do love to spend time alone, get lost in your own thoughts, and feel relaxed when you spend time away from society. 

But it doesn't mean that they don't want to interact and indulge with the society, they too love to socialize and interact but after a certain period, they start to lose their energy. To get themselves charged they get away from the crowd.

They are Weird

Because of your personality traits as discussed in 1st point, you are stereotyped to be weird. Your views are a bit different from the crowd, neither you prefer to follow the crowd. 

No Friends 

They are choosy and careful when making a friend, they value their few friends and are loyal for a lifetime. Once you earn the respect and value of an introvert you are lucky enough to have him/her as your friend.

Not Good Leaders and Unsuccessful

The greatest myth about introverts is that they are not successful and not good at leadership because they are of shy and reserved nature and don't interact more often.

In research, it was found that most of the top executives in the world have been categorized as introverts. Because of good observation and listening skills, they are said to possess great leadership skills. Great leaders like Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela were the same personalities who came to be the best leaders in the world.

After going through who actually introverts are and what are the misconceptions related to that, lets us move on to know the strengths/powers.

Great Thinkers 

Not socializing and being alone doesn't prove that you cannot think, you take your own time to think because of which you are able to find better solutions to your problems and take better and rational decisions.

You are good at doing preparations whether it be completing a task or handling a project. This strength helps them to be mentally prepared to face any sort of situation and enables them to say the right word at right time. You complete your task/work effectively and efficiently.

Good Listeners

Since you tend to speak less you are a great listener, not only listening but also give a lot of importance to the gestures, emotions, expressions etc. Your listening strength gives you the ability to react to others accordingly.

Writers

Since you are less keen and interested to express yourself and the things going in your mind to others you write them down, which makes you great writers. By writing you can express yourself freely without being interrupted or being afraid of what others will think. Writing also helps you to find solutions and ideas which you cannot find while speaking.

Prioritize

Not focusing to work on or grab everything that comes to you, one of the great strengths you got is that you know how to prioritize your work and the stuff in your life. Not only work but everything, the reason you have only a few friends is that you are realistic about which things you can handle and the things you cannot.

Idol

Most of you might not be aware of this, but you tend to be a role model for others. Although your traits might be hated, instead your quietness, strengths, way of approach, how you tackle situation, gentle nature etc  makes you a role model in their eyes.

Focused

Most people may get distracted while handling a task or completing work, but when it comes to focusing no one can beat you. Your focusing ability is great, whether it be work or knowing people. It helps to tackle critical situations and efficiently organize them .

IS IT GOOD TO BE AN INTROVERT?

Yes, it is good, society will say you it's bad to be an Introvert, change yourself and be an Extrovert if you want to move ahead in life. But let me tell you, the personality you possess in one of your greatest strengths and you are well aware of how to get the best out of your ability.

Extroverts and others may be ahead of you, don't try to chase and get ahead of others rather focus on running your own race and improving yourself, at the right time you'll get ahead. Trying to get ahead of others, will eventually result in losing your own race. 

CONCLUSION

So most of you might have changed your perspective now, being  an Introvert is not to be taken negatively or think that you are apart from society. 

It has both positive and negative aspects, your point of view on life matters, focusing on the positive side will let you make your life worthwhile and fulfilling. On the other hand, focusing on the negative aspects will make you carry unnecessary burdens of life.
